INTERVENTION #4

MILENA NAEF & HANNAH KINDLER

Moving Mass

1.-4.3.2026

Opening Sunday, 1.3.2026, 11h

Over the past six months, artists Milena Naef and Hannah Kindler have collected 1000 vases to arrange them as part of a performance on Arne-Torgersen-Platz in Freiburg im Breisgau.
At the opening and over the following four days, residents of the Gutleutmatten neighborhood are invited to actively participate in the installation: the vases can be rearranged in public space, taken away, or passed on.

Vases can be seen as a “primordial object” of human culture. They are found in archaeological excavations from almost all eras. At the same time, due to their domestic use and their vessel-like nature, they have often been associated with femininity throughout history. In Naef and Kindler's intervention, they persistently occupy public space in large numbers. But only for a moment, because then they are divided up and carried to a new destination. More
